APPLE TREE

APPLE TREE
CURT: 1986, Orchards throughout..island 17th (shape of apple and apple red traps on approach to 18)..Played with Brett following depo and just before St. John next day. BRETT: Played with Dad and Uncle Charlie. Birdied the apple hole and Charlie taught me to "swing in a barrell"

CANYON LAKES

CANYON LAKES
Tough course with very slick greens. Brett played in State golf Championship..He was 2 over coming into 9, but got caught behind 9 green and took a 10..ouch..I was watching from clubhouse w/o his knowledge...He didn’t show anger...very proud. A man nearby said, “That poor kid.” I say, “That poor kid’s dad.” Played in winter with Brett and Tom..first several holes in snow and ice on greens..chip away to get to the hole. A whole new meaning to "chip and putt".

CLARKSTON

CLARKSTON
Home course growing up in Clarkston from about age 5 on...Dad a founding member on a 9 hole sand green course in 1937...Once played 81 holes in a day----walking...My two holes in one both on this course...One on s#4 when at WSU and one at #8 (uphill to grandpas house), but only witness was Brett (age 6)..Two great finishing holes, but otherwise fairly flat.

COLUMBIA POINT

COLUMBIA POINT
Remodeled course just outside RIchland. Fairways slant toward middle. Played with Mac, Keith, and Dave Broom (who slipped on ice when we picked him up and had a career round, 82)

CRYSTAL SPRINGS (Pomeroy)

CRYSTAL SPRINGS (Pomeroy)
9 hole course that is flat and only played because it was a HS Tourney site . Not quite the Pebble Beach otherwise described in this text. 30 miles west of Clarkston and up the Alpowa grade.

HORN RAPIDS

HORN RAPIDS
Played this course with Charlie…very desert feeling course and target golf all the way with much sand...Ball off fairway was gone!

LOWER VALLEY

LOWER VALLEY
This is a somewhat flat course played with Charlie on several occasions when he practiced law there for about 25 years. Later he moved to Dayton, and in 2013 moved to Preston, ID to be near son Matt who lives in Logan, Utah.

MOUNT ADAMS

MOUNT ADAMS
Played this course with Charlie when they lived at Sunnyside. Fairly flat but a good play... nice views of Mt Adams from most of the holes.

OTHELLO

OTHELLO
Played this 9 hole course quickly after meeing with clients..fairly well maintained.

PULLMAN (no longer there)

PULLMAN (no longer there)
This course was played a few times in undergrad at WSU..Not much to shout about...back and forth flat course… no longer there... replaced with tennis courts and a new course built by WSU (Palouse Ridge) that is a wonderful play in the area.

QUAIL RIDGE

QUAIL RIDGE
(need description)

RITZVILLE

RITZVILLE
9 hole course just north of I-90...Very flat and not much, but is always one of the first courses to open in the spring so it does get some play.

ROYAL CITY

ROYAL CITY
A flat 9 hole course played when visiting a client regarding a hay baling machine he had made that took the arm off the plaintiff.

SAGE HILLS

SAGE HILLS
18 hole course in the middle of nowhere played as first course on our eastern Washington Prodigal tour. Fairly flat but a good layout. On one hole Bruce Hopkins hit over a noll on the right and toward a green we were playing. I laid down on the green and when Bruce came over the rise he raced to the green....oh well!

SKAMANIA LODGE

SKAMANIA LODGE
Along the Columbia River and just east of Vancouver. Beautiful course played with the Macs…great fun. Mom recalls like a hike in the woods.

ST. JOHN

ST. JOHN
Played this 6 hole course with Brett (Previous day played the Apple Tree in Yakima). Left $ in a bucket and then played this flat course...now expanded to a 9 hole course.

SUN COUNTRY

SUN COUNTRY
Played on the way to pick up church bus. Rented clubs after camping on the lake at Snoqualmie in my hammock and riding bike down into Cle Elum where it broke down on a mission trip.

SUN TIDES

SUN TIDES
Brett played this course in Yakima while in town for a visitation to Campbell Farm, Wapato. Rode bike to Seattle, took greyhound to Yakima, rode to Sun Country. Nice, straight forward, cheap course on a hot day. Then rode 20 miles to Campbell Farm to visit and stay the night, then biked back to Yakima the next morning for the bus ride home.

SWALLOW ROCK

SWALLOW ROCK
Originally a 9 hole course developed by a high school classmate, Don Poe. Later changed to an 18 hole course with a quirky 9 hole over the road. Held our 50 year HS reunion there..Much up and down..Snake River views toward Asotin.

TEKOA

TEKOA
Played this course with Brett on the way to a Cougar game down the back way. Fairly flat with sidehill #18.

TRI-CITY COUNTRY CLUB

TRI-CITY COUNTRY CLUB
(no description)

WALLA WALLA COUNTRY CLUB

WALLA WALLA COUNTRY CLUB
Played this oldest of courses in west as a Jr golfer in a state PNGA tournament. Stayed in Bob and Ann Berger's basement..After 1st round 3 others out and played poker, but I tried to sleep as got to the next rounds..great fun..Played later with Bob Ruper, general mgr. of Nelson Irrigation in Walla Walla. Great fun.

WINE VALLEY

WINE VALLEY
A new course to the area about 10 miles to the west of the city. Rolling hills and generous greens, but very undulating.. tough to read and keep on the green. Played with Bruce Bennett, paralegal at the office. Mom was going to play, but almost 100 degrees and she went shopping instead. Fun play and reminded me of Palouse Ridge (Links style) and really good play.

VETERAN'S MEMORIAL

VETERAN'S MEMORIAL
Interesting course with tough par 4's. Watched Brett play a PLU Tourney here..Had a super round going(1 under at 15 tee after dedicating a putt to mom on mother's day), but hit one out of bounds just as we began watching. Finished at 74.
